Why Leaderboard Golf is Free

We built Leaderboard Golf so golf societies and groups can run proper live scoring without cost or hassle. The core features are free forever: start a round, enter scores on phones, see leaderboards update in real time, and put the Clubhouse Mode (TV-style) on a big screen. Here’s how that’s sustainable and what we’ll never do.

What’s Free (Forever)

Start rounds in seconds (Stableford, medal, matchplay, 9- and 18-hole formats).
Live leaderboards for groups and society days.
Clubhouse Mode for scoreboards on TVs/projectors.
Records hub, eclectic and “Hall of Fame / Hall of Shame” style summaries (when enabled).

How We Pay the Bills

Running a real-time service costs money (servers, bandwidth, storage, monitoring). We cover those costs with a mix of sensible, non-intrusive options:

Light ads on information pages (like this one and other guides). We keep ads out of scoring screens.
Optional sponsors for Clubhouse Mode or event pages (e.g., a local pro shop’s logo on the TV screen).
Supporter contributions from groups who want to chip in (totally optional).
Future add-ons that are nice-to-have (not required): advanced analytics, custom branding, or extra export options.

💡 Principle: The live-scoring experience should feel clean and focused. That’s why we don’t put ads in the scoring UI.

What We Won’t Do

No selling personal data. Full stop.
No dark patterns to force sign-ups or paid tiers mid-round.
